Dear
Mr. Parolin,
re: Art Magic Carpentry Limited Letter
of Reference
I
am pleased to provide a letter of reference for Art Magic.
Art Magic Carpentry provided finish carpentry and millwork throughout the
$ 18M York Student Centre, completed in 1991.
As project architect for the York University Student Centre I worked closely
with Art Magic Carpentry throughout the shop drawing review and construction
phases of the building.
The
project was composed of architectural concrete ceilings and exposed structural
columns and beams, finished by millwork wood panelling, rail and wall caps, wood
doors, frames and interior glazing, extensive trim, built-in benches and
casework. Benches and railing caps
were of solid maple laminated construction with
special shaping. Doors were
oiled birch veneer, with solid hardwood frames.
Panelwork was birch veneer with solid edging, set into architectural
concrete recesses.
High
demands were placed on the millwork and finish carpentry.
The exposed structure afforded little tolerance for adjustments to
finishes, requiring precise work. The
building is the most intensively used of all facilities on the campus,
requiring extraordinary durability and heavy duty construction in all its
details.
Art
Magic met these requirements with work of the highest standard.
Their shop drawings were meticulously detailed and coordinated.
Cooperation and patience was displayed in detailed coordination reviews
with the architect. Their crew on
site was well organized and highly skilled.
Care and thoroughness was demonstrated in correction of deficiencies.
I
am impressed with Art Magic, and recommend them for participation in future
projects.
Please
do not hesitate to call if further information is needed.
Yours
truly,
A.
